Keeping the Conversation Going + Picnic Lunch
Have you ever had a conversation start off well but then fall flat? What do we do with those awkward silences? At this event, we will explore techniques for keeping a great conversation moving in the right direction. We will continue to practice these new skills over lunch.
Following Directions / Recipes + Cooking Class
This class provides an opportunity to learn all steps involved in planning a delicious and nutritious meal. The group will be selecting meals, shopping for supplies, prepping the food, and dining together.
Small Talk + Bowling
Participants will learn about the art of small talk with new peers. We will review strategies and examples of how to break the silence in conversation and engage in small talk. The group will have the chance to practice these new small talk skills at the bowling alley.
Problem Solving + Scavenger Hunt
After we work through problem solving techniques for situations big and small, we will put our skills to the test with a scavenger hunt. This hands-on learning experience will allow participants to practice problem solving in a tangible way.
Questions to Break the Ice + Social Game Night
This event will help enhance participant’s ability to introduce themselves, get to know new people, and make a good first impression. We will spend the evening getting to know each other and playing ice breaker games.
Countertop Cooking
The Countertop Cooking theme for this month is Mexican food. Let staff know if you have any specific recipe ideas or requests. We will work together to cook several recipes, and then sit down to eat our creations.
Social College: Asking for Help
If asking for help feels uncomfortable or hard, this Social College class may help! The group will learn a few strategies about how to ask for help. You can share stories of when it was hard to ask for help and get feedback from the group.
